Danger, Mystery and Spankings: An Interview With Natasha Knight!

By March 22, 2014 Korey's Friends
Heyya folks!
Alrighty, so I’ve been quiet on the home front. As you can see from that climbing little bar in the corner, I am nearly done with Otherworldly Discipline 2 and I could not possibly be more excited about it. I’ll talk more later. I hope to have it done tomorrow and I’ll come to my blog and celebrate.
For now, there’s other things to celebrate! I’m so enthused that Natasha Knight let me interview her about this new contemporary suspense novels filled with all the good stuff I like–action, spankings, alpha-males, you name it. I wanted to pick her brain a bit on the experience of writing a suspense book in this genre! Here it is!one caucasian man detective secret agent criminal with gun in

Your newest release, Dangerous Defiance, is a romantic suspense novel. How does writing this genre compare to writing others, like romantic contemporary or even paranormal? Does it have any aspects you’ve found challenging or even fun?

I think it was most different from romantic contemporary because I had to remind myself throughout about the action! When I do romantic contemporary, it is more focused on the characters and the emotions are what push the story along and here, it’s more the action with the emotion still there but toned down a little maybe? Paranormal is closer to romantic suspense to me – at least the paranormal I’ve written so far. It was definitely fun and the challenge was the research. I might hate research more than I hate editing.

Young Muscular Man Torso

What do you think makes a good hero?

For sure, tenderness. The physical hotness is just assumed in a romance – the big guy, intelligent, not afraid to be a man, but if he doesn’t have tenderness in his heart, as hot as a book can be, as sexy as a spanking can be, it’s missing something (for me at least) and that something is what makes a hero and a book memorable.

What’s your favorite scene in Dangerous Defiance?

This changes depending on the moment you ask but I really liked how Jackson and Jess kind of clicked – their banter was completely natural and fun. This scene happens just before Jess’s first spanking.

“What are you doing?” Jess asked, trying to pull away but not managing to free herself.

“I’m going to give you that spanking I felt too sorry to give you last night,” Jackson said with the most even, level tone.

“You’re joking,” she said, really pulling back now.

He turned to her when they reached the tree stump. “Do I look like I’m joking?”

No, he did not, in fact. Not one little bit. Alarm bells went off and Jess clutched her camera when he sat down.

“Get over my lap.”

Her eyebrows went up. Where was her gun when she needed it? “Pardon me?”

“You heard me, Agent. Over my lap.”

“Ok, that does it. The water is definitely contaminated and you’ve been drinking too much of it because you have obviously lost your mind,” she said, tugging but still failing to get free.

“I’m thinkin’ so too on the contamination, but that’ll have to wait a minute. One more time,” he said, gesturing for her to lay herself across his lap.

She looked at it, at his powerful thighs, his big hands which suddenly resembled paddles. She wondered if she should be afraid or furious or… something. But she only looked at him and her heart rate remained somehow level. This was almost… comical. Sheriff Jackson Montgomery was going to spank her? Out here in the open? Her? An FBI agent?

“I really don’t think so, Sheriff,” she said with a chuckle.

“Suit yourself,” he said and with a dexterity she would not have imagined from a man built like him, he relieved her of her camera and tugged on her arm while his other hand gripped her waist, and the next thing she knew, she was lying face down across his lap, her hands on the ground, her feet kicking up a storm.

 What’s your next project?

I’m going to be a complete tease and tell you I’ve got one secret project going which is a little different than anything I’ve done so far. Well, maybe very different but that depends on how things progress from here. I’m curious to see it myself! More to come on that later… Besides that, I love a firefighter so I’m writing one who spanks. A couple of others too but those are too new to mention really.

Would you say you have a specific writing method?

Yep, sit down, start writing and hope for the best. I’ve never been a planner and this goes for pretty much everything for me!

What is the allure for you in adding spankings to your books?

First, I like spankings! That part is easy. I’ve found that through writing it, I can figure out what aspects draw me to it so maybe that is the allure, the self study piece.

I started to write this to just get it out of my head and not want it anymore – I didn’t even know what a spanko was at that point. I had three offers within four days of submitting my first ever piece (which thank goodness the contract ran out on and is safely out of reach because it’s terrible!!). It didn’t work out the way I had thought though! Writing it just made me want it more. It was some months after that I told my husband about it at all and in the time since, writing spanking romance is just natural and quite frankly, fun. I think that’s key. Someone asked me once when I was going to start writing another genre and was I bored yet but I can easily say that no, I’m not bored. I still love writing spanking romances – it’s still absolutely exciting to start a new story every single time.

Breanna Hayse Visits: Blindfolded… The Bright Side of BDSM

By March 27, 2013 Korey's Friends

Hello my delicious, wonderful little blog-readers, you. I have a special treat for you today because my good personal friend Breanna Hayse is here to talk to you about all sorts of naughty stuff. Everybody’s excited, I know, because Bree’s awesome and her writings are seriously naughty. BUT here’s why we’re extra-special privileged: her next book is gonna teach us a few new things.

When Breanna was hinting that there’d be all this BDSM stuff and pony girl play, I was really thinking: Yikes! BDSM’S SCARY.

I know, I know. My advice is always to write as naughty as possible, and I mean it, but I’m squeamish. I’m squeamish about most things, actually. I’m sort of a wuss. I don’t even really like my nipples pinched. Oh, like, James pinches them anyway, but I don’t like it and my nipples don’t either. So, let’s just say, my nerves resemble chicken feces.

So I was the first reader of Bree’s Blindfolded, and was pleasantly surprised. I mean, tons of stuff I don’t like she put in there… But it wasn’t as scary as I thought it’d be. The relationship between the main characters make it all worth while. As I was telling her husband, “Blindfolded sort of shows off the Bright Side of BDSM”… It’s not murky, it’s not scary, it’s just hot and kinky as hell. She writes it in a way that you don’t think, “Oh, the poor girl!” like I do with so many other BSDM stories. It’s exciting without having to pay for it with heebie jeebies. 😉

Now, without any further ado, I’m gonna let Bree take over my blog for the rest of the day. :)

* * *

hiyall_breeGuess what! I got a new book coming out… called Blindfolded. Now, I’m not giving away ANY secrets in it except that it deals with some BDSM situations that most of us fantasize about, but would never approach. Plus some really sizzling sex. But then, does that surprise you? LOL!

This book gave me the opportunity to show my reader that BDSM is not about whips, chains and the dungeons. Now, don’t get me wrong… for some, they are part of the lifestyle but not, by any means, all encompassing. BDSM is about trust. It is a way of thinking that can be expressed physically in both pain and pleasure, light and darkness and control and release. It is a process… the way to discover the hidden desires within us and how to bring them forth

In Blindfolded, the heroine is kidnapped, blindfolded, bound and introduced to the very things that she had only dreamed and wrote about in her books. Blind training is the primary theme… teaching how to see without the eyes and, in the process, how to trust that which you cannot see. Scary, huh?

As most of you know, I served in the USMC as an intelligence specialist (no smart ass comments regarding the oxymoron of Marine Intelligence, please). During my training, our unit was subjected to POW interrogation techniques, including sensory deprivation. It was terrifying at first, to say the least. Not just because we could not see what was happening, but also it prevented us from preparing for whatever would happen. The three day exercise brought about some frightening results. Like Regan in Blindfolded, we became completely dependent on our captors for everything and never knew what would befall us. In my particular situation, I developed the insatiable need to please the one who held me prisoner. I became eager to hear the sound of his coming, his voice, the feel of his hands as he led me in the darkness. It was, indeed, and eye opening experience in true submission and the discovery of my natural state of being.

My husband John (who many of you have already met and been charmed by), took me through blind training as well… and this book is the result of the magnificent experience that changed my ability to see and also brought forth a degree of confidence that surprised both of us. He showed me the bright side of BDSM though loving dependance, trust and embracing my fantasies and peculiar little kinks.

Kinks? What kinks? Everyone ‘plays’ the game differently. It depends on so many factors, including how we are ‘wired’, the circumstances at hand, our interpretations of pain vs pleasure, plus those funky things called emotions, needs, and desires.

We also all have different levels of tolerance. For example, Korey is a wimp… she cries if James even looks like he’s gonna spank her. Me? Oh baby, take out the strap and watch me purr. On the other hand, don’t even think of getting near my hoochie with a waxing kit. See what I mean?

I have some shocking things in Blindfolded that I did want to discuss… two in particular. One… nipple piercing. Yes! I DO mention it in Blindfolded… now, before you shudder, remember that there are lots of peeps out there, men and women, who like hard play on the nipples. I don’t have mine pierced (I did do my belly button!) . For many people, nipple rings are not only aesthetically pleasing, but provide sensation that is a major turn on. plus, it provides ‘handles’ for those who like restraints. Nipple clamps are similar, temporary of course, and can be adjusted to different intensities. Now, I DO like those…. the feelings change from pain to pleasure to pain when they are removed. Just watch the blood flow, boys and girls!

Another thing is… hold on… deeep breath... vaginal fisting. OK, before you freak, hear me out. Fisting does NOT mean that nasty Caligula lather up and plunge! Ok… SOME peeps do that, but I don’t recommend it unless you are really prepared. It can damage you. Duh.

Nah, this type is gentle insertion of the fingers, then the hand. Seriously, for you who have had babies.. those heads are TWICE the size of most men’s hands! Why do this? It is the intimacy and the humiliation in knowing he/shes got you and there is no where you can go. Slow… kids… easy, gentle and in she goes!

And that is JUST the beginning of the goodies you’re gonna find in Blindfolded!
Would you like to learn more about this? Gimme a holler!

Renee Rose Drops In To Talk About Her Naughty New Western!

By March 14, 2013 Korey's Friends

Happy Thursday, Folks!

My favorite thing about owning a blog, officially, is having some really awesome people drop by. Renee Rose is an absolutely amazing author–she’s one of those people who you can’t put down once you start reading and then you look up and you forgot to cook dinner. She’s that sorta girl. I was so, so pleased to do a two-in-one (Lords and Ladies) with her, because I think she’s so good that she  really raises the bar on quality for the rest of us. That, and her blog is absolutely fantastic and charming and is one of my favorites.

Anywhoo, without anymore gilding the lily, I have you the lovely Renee Rose! Thanks so much Renee for joining us and talking about your inspiration for your new title, The Devil of Whiskey Row, which will be released by SNP next week!

Spanking in a Western Brothel

 by Renee Rose

renee_blog_graphicI’ve always had a sort of fascination with the sex worker.  As a teenager, I was attracted to the idea of being a stripper, even though I knew I never could.

In a society where teenage girls are taught to fear men and their sexual advances, to steel themselves against them, to not “put out,” I admired the minority of women who turned the tables on that power dynamic.  They charged for it.  Or they took what they wanted with no apologies.  They stripped, they whored, they dominated.  They called the shots.  How terribly interesting.

More recently, the Amy Winehouse song “I’m No Good” struck me as a shockingly different take–a female serial cheater?  A woman who just can’t help but take a little physical pleasure every time she has the chance?  Whoa.  That’s a new twist.

So when I contemplated writing a western, I was drawn to the brothel scenario. Men outnumbered women ten to one during the Gold Rush in California, and women were in such short order that French whores got on ships and sailed to California, assured that their passage would be paid when they arrived. Whorehouses, saloons and gambling halls sprang up and a great deal of money changed hands there.

In The Devil of Whiskey Row, Cora, the heroine, ended up working in a brothel as a victim of circumstance. She approaches sex as a victim. In the bedroom, she closes her eyes, grits her teeth, and tries not to move much until her customer is through.  She’s never experienced pleasure, nor has she ever thought to seek it.

When a fire destroys the brothel where she works and Jake, the Devil of Whiskey Row, swoops in and offers her work in his brothel, her eyes are opened to an entirely different world view.  Jake’s whores are empowered.  They enjoy making money and they enjoy the sex.  Cora is intrigued by their take on the age-old profession. When her own flame is kindled by Jake (who has a penchant for taking her over his knee) she discovers she is capable of more passion than she ever dreamed possible.

Here’s a little taste of the sexual tension that starts to build between Cora and Jake during a spanking:

She rushed out of his grasp when she entered the room, her feet carrying her to the middle of the room where she stopped, uncertainly.  He sat down on the bed and simply waited, offering no command, curious to see what she would do.

She turned slowly to face him, her eyes sweeping his face as if looking for clues for what to expect.  Still he waited.  Her chest heaved under the constriction of her corset, creating a lovely view of the tops of her lifted breasts framed by the low, square cut bodice of the gown.  She didn’t move from her place, and her eyes fell from his face to his feet. The tension in the room grew, the silence only cut by her shallow panting.  At last she took one, faltering step in his direction, then another.

He sat back with satisfaction. It had been so very easy to bring her to heel.  He’d been certain that underneath the cursing and defensive exterior was a very sweet girl. Her last few footsteps quickened, bringing her to stand directly before him.

“Good girl,” he murmured approvingly. Her little panting breath answered with the whisper of  a tiny moan. He put his hands on her waist and turned her slowly around so he could unfasten her gown for her.  It had a series of tiny hooks in the back and it took some time for him to release them all so he could open the dress.  It fell in a satin puddle at her feet, and he began unlacing her corset.  She took several deep, shaky breaths when he released her lower rib cage from its constriction and tossed the corset to the side.  She didn’t move, simply stood there, her torso bared from the waist up, a slight trembling making the long ropey muscles of her back twitch.  He put his hands on her hips and turned her to face him.

Though he’d seen them before, he was still unprepared for the full effect of her breasts. Like everything else about her, they were so youthful, so wholesome, full of the promise of life, he found it was he who trembled.  Willing himself to ignore them, he lifted his eyes to her face.

Look for the release of The Devil of Whiskey Row next week!

Spanking Implements, Fiction vs. Reality

by Patricia Green

barebottom_spank_vintageYou like to read spanking stories; if you’re here, that’s pretty much a given. But there’s no way I can know if you’ve ever experienced a spanking, live in a spanking household, or if it’s simply a fantasy for you to indulge in now and then. I can’t know what gives you the warm fuzzies or maybe the willies.

One thing that sometimes makes a reader go hmmmm, is the tool used for the spanking in the book. Many authors – myself included – try to change up the implements from one spanking to another. There’s nothing so perfect as the tried-and-true male palm against a turned-up fanny, but variety adds a level of fun and fantasy. Are these tools ever used in reality?

Yes! Let’s take wooden spoons, for example. Nearly every household with a kitchen has a wooden spoon. Have you ever had your fingers swatted while your mother or significant other was stirring something? Imagine that on your bottom. Ouch.

Spatulas are also handy. Though I don’t use the metal kind in my books (I’d be concerned about possible cuts), I do include spanking scenes with silicone spatulas and wooden spatulas. They make a particular unmistakable thunk sound. If you’re not ready to experience it on your tush, then try it on your palm. You’ll hear what I mean.

Household implements are key ingredients in spanking stories, and they’re not limited to kitchen items. I wrote a scene where a hero looks around a guestroom in his father’s home and spies a long-handled plastic shoehorn. I didn’t make this up out of thin air, either. I actually saw it in a doctor’s office, innocently leaning against a doorjamb – all eighteen inches of it! It made a great and different spanking tool in the book. Have I ever experienced it myself? No. It didn’t seem appropriate to try it out in the exam room at the doctor’s office. But it was different and fun and had my imagination going.

bigstock-Large-wooden-mixing-spoons-27011780Which leads me to the notion of reality in fiction. Do real people use spatulas, leather-soled slippers, spoons, and leather bag straps to spank the person they care about? Based on my own experience, and many conversations with other spanking authors and persons involved in Domestic Discipline relationships, I’d have to say yes. Although we all crave the intimacy of the hard palm, there is something deliciously scary when you first see his belt being removed from its loops, or his hand grasping that soft-leather-soled slipper and heading toward you! It’s the kind of scary you get with roller coaster rides; you know you’re safe, but this might be the one-in-a-million chance you’ll be tossed out of the car. Or, in this case, spanked until you’re black and blue. No one wants injury, but you have to have a lot of trust to submit to a spanking that isn’t a hand spanking. And yet, people do it all the time.

When you’re reading spanking books, do you think about how you’d personally be affected by the use of an implement? Would it be scarier? Would it be more titillating? Would you run screaming from the room? Are there any creative spanking implements you’ve thought about but never read about? Do tell; you might find them in my next book!

Thank you, Korey, for having me here today. It’s a pleasure to work with someone as professional and friendly as you.

My latest release is Journey’s End. It’s the final pre-planned book in the Journey series, although I reserve the right to add to the series as I have with an Easter story and a Valentine’s novella.

Here’s the blurb for Journey’s End:

Well-loved housekeeper and substitute mama, Consuelo, is hospitalized in this sixth of the Journey family books. The Journey family is torn up about it, especially Leo Journey, patriarch of the clan.

Leo’s extreme upset trickles through the family, and causes a rift between his eldest son Ace and him, that has everyone worried about the fate of Journey’s End, the family ranch. All the siblings rally around to try to fix this breach and get Journey’s End and Ace and Leo back on track. They can’t help wondering why Leo is so much more emotional than they’ve seen since their mother died some twenty years before.

Throughout it all, the Journey siblings and their mates share the deep love and affection that is so much a part of the Journey way of living. And, somehow, there’s always someone needing a good, hard spanking, often followed by good, hard loving.

Join the Journeys for this series conclusion. Find out what happens at Journey’s End.

Why Chula’s A Saint

By August 4, 2012 Korey's Friends

I’m here to say it: just because I HAVE an English Degree doesn’t mean I deserved one. I mean, when I sit down and think about it, I know the rules of the road–I know where to put commas, etc. But that doesn’t mean I don’t sometimes write complete and utter nonsense.

Strange enough: When I’m enjoying the scene I’m writing I write FAR worse than when I’m gritting my teeth and bearing it, or flat-out writing a scene that my husband told me to add in there. Strange enough, when my husband commissions me to write something, I don’t  even need an editor. It’s not like I’m lost in the scene. Occasionally I’m writing from a bullet list.

Back to the matter at hand–I enjoyed writing “Otherworldly Discipline: A Witch’s Lesson”. I better have–I wrote the first 50 pages about 12 times, each with different plots. I was really in a fantasy mood. I wanted witches, I wanted wizards, and strange enough I had watched way too many Colin Firth movies at the time and so I wanted someone who was very proper, very smart, with Darcy-esque unlikability. Hence popped out Ashcroft Medwin. I was also surprised when he liked to dirty talk to Charlotte, once he actually started to have sex with her–but I realized that I like a really trashy bedroom scene.

I liked Moriarty, mostly because writing about fashionable metrosexual men is a real hoot, especially when they’re prissy gits who REALLY want to be taken seriously, but their manicured fingernails don’t allow it.

Back to where it all went wrong–because I enjoyed the characters and was trying to make the dialogue “witty”, I made a real mess of the actual book. Luckily I was able to call in a favor with Mrs. Stone… Who probably spent HOURS reading that story. Final count of changes? 345 comments were made regarding “change this…” edits. This story is only 90,000 words long, people. And there’s only… drumroll… THREE places where I disagreed with her. Three. Out of Three HUNDRED and forty five.

Ever feel like you totally took advantage of someone? That’s sort of how I felt about poor Chula… I spent an hour–maybe two–making a cover for her almost a year ago. And to “pay me back”, she spent obviously 10+ hours editing this puppy. And she couldn’t have been nicer about uncrapifying my book. She did a bang-up job!

So gracias, Chula Stone. Gracias. Go visit her Amazon page and get your Stone on, folks! :)
Chula Stone at Amazon.

Also, I don’t want to not mention Jan, who read the first 13 chapters of Otherwordly Discipline and fixed a lot of problems that Chula didn’t have to later choke down. Not to mention I got a good lecture about not to use italics. Supposedly I have an obsession. :) Thanks to you, too, Jan! :) You’re awesome!
